European linear low density polyethylene spot prices were flat this week on sustained bearish price expectations. LLDPE spot prices were assessed Wednesday at Eur1,650/mt, unchanged on the week. One trader said that demand was not great and that while availability was tight there was an expectation it would ease. Regarding metallocene, one source said that metallocene was very tight and that, because of this, some sources were looking to standard C6 as a substitute. In the contract market, prices were assessed unchanged this week closing at Eur1,780/mt FD NWE. One producer said that availability was very low all over Europe, but this had been the case throughout the month. He added that prices were unchanged. Meanwhile in Turkey one source said that the market was clearly weaker than last week and that supply from the Middle East had normalized. In other news, EU polymer exports for January-April rose 7% on the year-ago period, to 1,941,519 mt, while imports fell 5% to 1,591,385 mt, Eurostat data released Monday showed. This followed the depreciation in the euro versus the dollar over the same period.
