Ethylene spot prices fell Eur26/mt on the week to be assessed at Eur1,214/mt FD NWE, Friday. The market continued to be reported as tight amid steam cracker outages but the expectation of more supply on stream through June and weakened downstream demand weighed on prices. TVK’s Olefin-2 cracker in Tiszaujvaros, Hungry had been heard restarted this week, trade sources said. The Olefin-2 cracker has a nameplate ethylene capacity of 250,000 mt/ year. Three further crackers are expected to restart in June. Total said Friday, of its joint venture cracker with Ineos, Naphtachimie, in Lavera, France: “The operator of the Lavera units is active in repair works and a start-up of the units producing our raw material is estimated in the fourth week of June.”
