Northwest European polypropylene spot prices were unchanged on the week to be assessed at Eur1,530/mt FD NWE. Prices remain close to an all-time high of Eur1,540/ mt FD NWE hit in early April. Contract prices maintained a Eur140/mt increase from April, stable on the week at Eur1,527.50/mt FD NWE. “Prices will remain at a high on tightened propylene supply until the second half of August,” a trader said. Fresh propylene supply issues have caused further PP production limitation this week. Ineos has declared force majeure on olefins and derivatives production out of its 740,000 mt/year ethylene capacity facility in Lavera, France, the company said Tuesday. The naphtha steam cracker in Lavera is a 50:50 joint venture between Ineos and Total.
