One Petro Rabigh polypropylene line failed to restart after maintenance

Singapore — Saudi Arabia’s Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company experienced a problem while restarting one of two polypropylene lines at the Rabigh-1 complex Sunday, a company source said Wednesday. The issue was believed to have been caused by sediment in the machinery and was expected to be resolved within two weeks, after Ramadan, the source said. The other PP line restarted successfully Sunday. The two PP lines, each with a 350,000 mt/year capacity, were originally taken offline as part of maintenance from May 23 at the refinery’s hydrogen production unit. The HPU is used in the production of several products, including PP.
