EDC: US ethylene dichloride held steady for the week, assessed at $295-$305/mt FOB USG on Thursday. Sources said producer offer levels stood substantially above the buying interest for June as sources continued to peg trading levels near the $300/mt FOB level. Overseas interest for US EDC represented an interesting dynamic as ethylene production issues pushed Asian EDC prices up but weaker PVC prices limited the pricing potential for US-made product, a trading source said. In feedstocks, Dow Chemical began a restart of the Taft No. 1 plant in Louisiana on Monday, sources said, and Flint Hills Resources started a five-day turnaround on Monday, the company said in a filing with state regulators.
