EDC: US ethylene dichloride declined $5/mt for the week, assessed at $300-$310/mt FOB USG on Thursday. Sources talked of weakening demand in Asia as lower PVC prices limited EDC buying interest. In feedstocks, spot ethylene dropped 0.875 cent week on week, assessed Thursday at 35.50 cents/lb FD USG for June deliveries after talks of two production restarts in Louisiana. Dow Chemical has restarted its Plaquemine, Louisiana, LHC No. 3 ethane cracker, a company source with knowledge of operations said. Additionally, Williams Partners has neared the completion of the restart of its plant in Geismar, Louisiana, sources said. On-spec production at the plant has been expected this week, but official confirmation of the operational status of the plant has yet to be obtained, sources added. Multiple sources expected an official curtailment letter reducing June contract volumes to be sent by the end of the day Thursday.
