Northwest European styrene monomer spot prices were marginally higher Friday, recording day-on-day gains of $4.50/mt to $1,603.50/mt FOB ARA. Upstream, benzene spot prices surged $49/mt to settle at $1,431.50/mt CIF ARA on resurgent demand from the US Gulf Coast, narrowing the styrene/benzene spread to its lowest level since April 9 at $172/mt.
