Spot European acrylonitrile prices were firmer this week ahead of the expected hike in March contract pricing for feedstock propylene, which was set to be settled this week. March propylene CP will largely be buoyed by upstream energy market strength, but any upside would likely be mitigated by poor downstream demand, sources said. Naphtha averaged $995/mt (Eur742/mt) CIF NWE so far in February, up from January's $933/mt (Eur701/ mt). It closed at $983/mt CIF NWE on Tuesday, down from $999/mt on Monday and from $1,018/mt a week ago.
