Eni eyes increased upstream cooperation with Algeria

London-Italy’s Eni is targeting enhanced cooperation with Algeria’s state-owned Sonatrach in the energy sector, with CEO Claudi Descalzi eyeing more work in the Algerian upstream and also in the development of renewables. Descalzi met Tuesday in Algiers with Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, energy minister Salah Khebri, and the head of Sonatrach, Amine Mazouzi. “During the meeting, the Eni CEO outlined further opportunities for the launch of the activities within the development of gas and oil in the existing concessions in the country,” Eni said in a statement.
