Sunoco Logistics, energy transfer to combine

Houston-Midstream powerhouses Sunoco Logistics Partners and Energy Transfer Partners see synergies and growth opportunities from their pending combination in three key US areas with some of the largest shale deposits, the companies said late Monday. The companies see the Permian Basin, the Marcellus-Utica Shales and US Gulf Coast as the chief areas for cost savings and also growth projects for the new combined company, to be created after Pennsylvania- based Sunoco Logistics, or SXL, acquires Dallas-based Energy Transfer Partners in a transaction valued at $21.3 billion and announced Monday.
