New York—Oil futures weakened Thursday after the International Energy Agency cautioned that a global oil surplus could persist through next year, while the ongoing rally in US equities limited price declines. The IEA said Thursday that the global oil market could remain in surplus if OPEC is unable to finalize a deal limiting production to between 32.5 million and 33 million b/d (See story, page 1).
