US oil rigs see most gains in non-prominent basins

Houston-US oil rigs were up by nine last week to 325, Baker Hughes said on Friday, led by non-prominent basins and underscoring other industry indicators that the 18-month downturn may have finally bottomed. That is slightly more than half the 642 oil rigs at work during the same week a year ago, Baker Hughes said in its weekly North American rig count. Total US rigs, including natural gas and offshore, were up by four to 408, less than half the 868 working during the same week a year ago.
