Indonesia seeks to mandate 30 days of oil stocks

Jakarta—Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s biggest oil consumer, is embarking on a plan to raise the mandatory level of oil stocks held by oil firms as the country expects domestic demand to rise sharply in coming years. Government officials estimate the country, which currently consumes around 1.5 million b/d of oil, would need additional investment of up to $24 billion to build facilities and raise mandatory stock levels to 30 days of demand within the next five years.
