Houston—A narrowing Bakken discount to imported crude could incentivize bringing in greater imports and cutting into profits for rail shippers to the US Atlantic Coast, but despite this, train loads of oil have continued to move east, market sources said Tuesday. Platts assessed the Bakken crude blend out of Clearbrook, Illinois, at $41.71/b Monday, $4.65/b lower than Brent crude. Bonny Light crude, imported from West Africa, gave a $9.37/b cracking margin in USAC refineries, compared to $1.66/b for Bakken crude.
