Houston—Canadian and US Midwest crudes are strengthening in anticipation of an additional 300,000 b/d of demand from Canadian East Coast refineries soon to tap the market via the impending startup of Enbridge’s Line 9 pipeline. The reversal of the 240,000 b/d Line 9, and its expansion to 300,000 b/d, will allow crude to travel eastward from Sarnia, Ontario, to Montreal, becoming the only direct tie-in that region has to the larger North American pipeline systems
