The Coniston oil field offshore Western Australia started production on Sunday and will reach output of 25,000 b/d by August, an official at partner Inpex said Monday. Average output from Coniston will be around 18,000 b/d during its first year of opera- tion, according to Inpex, which holds a 47.499% stake the oil field. Coniston produces heavy crude with an API of 14-15 degrees which will be pumped to the Van Gogh floating production, storage and offloading platform through a flow line and sold as Van Gogh crude, which has an API of around 17 degrees, the official said.
