Statoil to bring two wells onstream offshore Brazil

Rio de Janeiro—Norway’s Statoil expects to bring two new wells onstream at the Peregrino heavy oil field offshore Brazil that should lift production back toward peak capacity at 90,000-95,000 b/d in the coming months, the company’s vice president of public affairs said Tuesday. Speaking at the 20th Latin Oil Week in Rio de Janeiro, Statoil’s Mauro Andrade called Peregrino the company’s “mostimportant project in Brazil.” The field has produced 70 million barrels of highly viscous crude since first oil was pumped in April 2011, Andrade said.
