Converting electricity to gas offshore on a platform associated with a wind farm for bringing and distributing electrical energy obtained using wind park on land without loss and inexpensively in the form of gas
Converting electricity to gas offshore on a platform associated with a wind farm for bringing and distributing electrical energy obtained using wind park on land without loss and inexpensively in the form of gas, is claimed. The method is completed using desalination, electrolysis, optionally methanation and carbon monoxide/carbon dioxide storage at sea. The energy in the form of hydrogen or methane is transported on land and over land using a gas pipeline or a tank vessel. The arrangement of the method at sea is carried out for optimization of transport and distribution on land. The arrangement of the method at sea is carried out for optimization of transport and distribution on land by means of gas pipeline or tank vessel. The conversion of electricity to gas at sea is carried out for economical transportation and additional transportation. The method is not carried out in a hostile atmosphere at sea for optimizing economical transport and distribution. The method improves transport and utilization of offshore wind power for commercial purpose. The energy transport method comprises (i) conversion of current into hydrogen by means of electrolysis, (ii) offshore desalination of water, (iii) methanation of hydrogen, (iv) recovery of carbon dioxide from air, (v) the storage of carbon monoxide/carbon dioxide, hydrogen or methane at sea (e.g. in wind farm on the platform) for the energy transport on land by pipelines or ship, downstream landside distribution, and optionally laying on land by means of gas (hydrogen or methane).
