BP Australia writes off $500 million in 2013

Sydney—BP has written off almost $500 million at its Australian business, according to its 2013 accounts. Over half the writedowns, A$281 million ($259 million), reflected the planned closure of BP’s 102,000 b/d Bulwer Island oil refinery in Brisbane, with another A$249 million written off in relation to the shelving of the onshore option for the Browse LNG project, in which BP is a junior partner.
