EU poised for new curbs on Russian oil

Brussels—European leaders were putting the finishing touches on a fresh round of sanctions on Russia late Friday set to restrict Russian oil companies’ access to European capital and block sales of European oil technology service providers for deepwater oil exploration and production. The European Commission Thursday proposed extending the ban, imposed on large Russian banks in July, to Russian statecontrolled oil companies with assets of more than Rb1 trillion ($27 billion) who get more than half their revenues from selling or transporting crude oil or petroleum products, the Financial Times reported.
