Canada’s First Nations battle Alberta oil project

Calgary—In January, Canadian singer Neil Young will hold four concerts in his home country to support an Alberta First Nations group that is fighting Shell’s proposal to expand an oil sands production facility in the province. The Athabasca Chipewyan First Nations group is vehemently opposed to Shell Canada’s proposed 100,000 b/d expansion of the Jackpine bitumen mining facility, some 250 miles northwest of Edmonton.
