Greenland gives foreign majors exploration permits

London—Greenland has awarded exploration licenses to three international consortia as it looks to intensify its search for offshore oil and natural gas resources, the government said Friday. The three consortia include Chevron, Shell, ConocoPhillips and BP, among other oil majors, along with Greenland’s state-owned Nunaoil. “The government of Greenland has decided to grant exclusive exploration and exploitation licenses to three consortia in four blocks in the Greenland Seas area in North East Greenland,” it said.
