Phillips 66 adds US rail capacity

New York—Independent refiner Phillips 66 is committed to adding rail unloading capacity at its East and West Coast plants, increasing the amount of cheaper, plentiful domestic crude processed, CEO and chairman Greg Garland said Wednesday. Speaking to analysts on company’s Q3 earnings call, Garland said Phillips 66 aims to run 100% of price advantaged crude across all its refineries, even though the company cut back on the amount of North Dakota’s Bakken crude railed into its 238,000 b/d Bayway refinery in Linden, New Jersey, during the quarter due to higher prices and imported West African crude.
