India Petronet quarterly LNG regas volume falls 9.6%

Mumbai—India’s leading LNG importer, Petronet LNG, reported a 9.6% fall in LNG regasification volumes in January-March to 122 trillion BTU (3.38 billion cubic meters) as high spot prices during the quarter reduced the tolling volume from its customers like GAIL and GSPC, the company’s director of finance, R.K. Garg, told Platts. Petronet LNG’s capacity utilization in what is the fourth quarter of its April-March fiscal year fell below 100%, he said April 30. However, for the full 2012-13 fiscal year it had achieved 103% capacity utilization although regasification volume fell 4.2% year-on-year to 525 trillion BTU (14.53 Bcm), Garg said.
