OPEC raises demand forecast for own oil

London—OPEC has raised its forecast of demand for crude produced by its 12 members this year to 29.84 million b/d from its previous forecast of 29.75 million b/d a month ago. But actual output, which had been on a downtrend, rose to 30.46 million b/d in April from 30.182 million b/d in March, leaving the cartel pumping 620,000 b/d more than the market needs from OPEC as an average this year.
