Independent producer PDCsuspends Marcellus work

Washington—Denver-based independentPetroleum Development Corporation said Feb-ruary 29 its Marcellus Shale joint venture withLime Rock Partners will suspend drilling in theplay because of low natural gas prices.The company, which formed PDC Moun-taineer with Lime Rock in September, saidthe JV is now drilling its third horizontal well inWest Virginia’s Marcellus Shale and plans todrill one more before halting further activity.PDC Mountaineer also plans to com-plete seven wells over the next severalmonths, including three drilled last year, thecompany said.
