Thailand set to import term LNG from Qatar in 2013

Bangkok—Thailand has agreed to convert its LNG purchase from Qatar from a spot basis to a long-term contract with the volume being doubled to meet its growing gas appetite, senior Thai energy officials said May 18. State-owned PTT reached a basic accord to begin taking 2 million mt/year of LNG from Qatar next year. The deal was struck during Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s state visit to Qatar during May 16-17.
