Houston—Big upstream operator Newfield Exploration railed some crude oil during Q2 in a logistical move, it said in its earnings call— while driller Patterson-UTI said during its Q2 conference call that demand for natural gasfueled drilling rigs is improving. Newfield railed more than 250,000 barrels of crude in the second quarter to East Coast refineries from Utah’s Uinta Basin, more as a “logistics” move than to gain price advantages, its Chief Operating Officer said Thursday.
