Gazprom mulls Shtokman partner changes

Moscow—Russia’s Gazprom may be considering changing the shareholder structure of its giant Shtokman gas project in the Barents Sea, and is set to take a decision next month, a senior company official said May 23. The Shtokman consortium is made up of Gazprom with a 51% stake, France’s Total with 25% and Norway’s Statoil with the remaining 24%. There has been speculation that the French company may be considering leaving the project because of its involvement in another Russian LNG project—the Novatekled Yamal LNG development.
