China’s fuel oil imports plunge 37% on poor demand

Singapore—China imported 1.28 million mt, or roughly 277,000 b/d, of fuel oil in August, a drop of 37% year on year, on the back of poor demand from both small independent refiners and the bunker sector, latest official customs data showed. August volumes were also down almost 32% from July’s 1.88 million mt, the data released over the weekend showed.
