Iraq pushes back exploration license round

Baghdad-Iraq has delayed for the fourth time a licensing round for oil and gas exploration, this time by more than six weeks, to give more time to qualified international oil companies to study model contracts for the 12 blocks on offer, the oil ministry's top contracting official said January 30. The round is now due to be held May 30-31. Abdul Mahdi al-Ameedi told Platts that so far 37 of the 46 pre-qualified companies have bought data packages for the 12 exploration blocks. They include US major ExxonMobil, Italy's Eni and Russian Lukoil, he said.
