US rig count rises by 4

Houston— The US rig count was 1,984 for the week ended June 8, up by 4 from the prior week, according to Baker Hughes. The latest count includes 1,935 land and 49 offshore, with 565 assigned to gas, 1,414 to oil and 5 to miscellaneous drilling. The rigs were drilling 572 vertical, 235 directional and 1,177 horizontal wells.
