Bangkok-The Thai government has backed off its resolution to implement a multiple CNG price hike through 2012, following vigorous protests by lorry, bus, and taxi drivers who used their vehicles to block Bangkok roads causing massive traffic jams on January 9. However, authorities secured an agree- ment from protesters to enforce the first of the 12-tier price rise on January 16 as scheduled, Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt Na- Ranong told local media January 9.
