Seoul-Korea Gas Corporation, the world's single-largest LNG buyer, May 24 said its first-quarter net profit rose 15.3% year on year to Won 417.2 billion ($381 million) largely due to higher sales and lower foreign exchange losses. Operating profit increased 6.8% year on year to Won 640 billion for the quarter ended in March, compared with Won 599.6 billion in the year-ago period. First-quarter sales were Won 8.79 trillion, up 19.3% from Won 7.37 trillion in the same period last year.
