Sydney—Australia has awarded 10 oil andgas exploration permits off Western Australiaand South Australia in areas offered for bid-ding in its 2010 offshore acreage release,Minister for Resources and Energy Martin Fer-guson said July 8. The six companies awarded the permitshave committed to spending a total of nearlyA$137 million ($147 million) in the permitsover three years, with further investment pos-sible, depending on initial findings.
