CNooC, Nexen sign deal for uS Gulf wells

New York-China National Offshore Oil Corporation upped its exposure in the US' backyard in a deal with Canadian E&P Nexen announced November 30 that gives CNOOC a 20% working interest in up to six deepwater Gulf of Mexico exploration wells. "We are seeing a gradual return to normal activity in the Gulf and this deal is a reflection of the fact that the basin remains a very exciting one for deepwater exploration prospects," Marvin Romanow, Nexen's president and CEO, said in a statement.
