Brent could cross $140, says Merrill lynch

Singapore-Bank of America's Merrill Lynch unit March 9 raised its price forecast for Brent crude oil in the second quarter to $122/b from $86/b earlier, due to "break- neck" global demand and the political situa- tion in Libya. "Global oil demand has been expanding at a breakneck pace in recent quarters, and now the political situation in Libya has reduced oil production by 1 million b/d," the Merrill Lynch Global Research report said.
