Argentina gas import prices hit $16.48/MMBtu

Buenos Aires-Argentina imported natural gas for up to $16.48/MMBtu during the Southern Hemisphere winter this year as it stepped up purchases to meet a surge in heating demand, the federal tax agency said September 19. State energy company Enarsa paid as much as $13.23/MMBtu in the first week of June for supplies, which are imported from Bolivia by pipeline and from other markets as LNG, the agency said in a resolution in the Official Bulletin. The price rose to $13.82/MMBtu and then to $16.48/MMBtu by the end of that month, a peak period of demand as temperatures fall and manufacturing and power plant demand for gas remains steady.
