Baghdad-The Iraqi cabinet October 4 approved a $518 million contract with Leighton Offshore to build an oil pipeline and single-point mooring for crude tankers with an estimated capacity of 900,000 b/d, the government spokesman's office said. The deal is the latest in a series of construction projects aimed at increasing Iraq's export capacity from the 1.8 million b/d now available at the al-Basra and Khor al-Amaya terminals in the northern Persian Gulf.
