Warsaw-Six bidders, including four from Russia, have made preliminary offers to buy a 53.2% stake in Poland's second-largest refiner, Grupa Lotos, but analysts believe the likely absence of Western European or US refiners in the process could derail the sale. Polish business daily Rzeczpospolita reported May 5 that Russian oil majors TNK-BP, Gazprom Neft and Rosneft were three of the four Russian companies that had submitted bids for the stake, valued at around $1 billion at current share prices, by the April 29 deadline.
