New York eyes Marcellus permits this year

Washington-New York may issue Marcellus Shale gas drilling permits by year's end if certain conditions are met, state Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens said July 1. "It depends on how many comments we get," Martens said at a press conference. "If real issues are raised, we have to figure out if additional mitigation is required. We are going to do this safely."
