Uganda mulls open bid for withdrawn block

Kampala-The Ugandan government is locked in talks aimed at deciding whether to put the license to block 3A, which includes the Kingfisher oil field, up for open bidding following its repossession of the field from the UK’s Tullow Oil last month, a government official said September 7. Kaliisa Kabagambe, the permanent secretary at the Ugandan energy ministry, told Platts the government is holding discussions with Tullow as well as other stakeholders to come up with a decision, adding it would not take long before a decision is reached.
