Liaoning Chengda to start shale oil project mid-year

Singapore—China’s state-owned Liaoning Chengda Company’s first shale oil project in Jilin province is expected to start up in mid-2010, a company official said April 20. The project, in which Liaoning Chengda holds a 60% stake, was scheduled to start in October 2009 but was delayed because o falling oil prices. The remaining 40% of the project is held by Jilin Hongsheng Weiye Energy Company, which is owned 60% by Liaoning Chengda.
