Washington-The Republican takeover of the US House of Representatives likely means the end of the push for a sweeping overhaul of offshore drilling regulations that Democrats failed to enact in the current Congress, where they hold a substantial majority. It also bolsters the ability of House Republicans to enact pro-industry policies on oil and gas drilling and will probably preclude any chance of ending oil and gas industry tax breaks that the Obama administration had proposed eliminating.
