TNK-BP eyes BP’s Venezuelan upstream assets

Moscow-Anglo-Russian oil venture TNK-BP is negotiating with BP the possible purchase of the UK-based company’s upstream assets in Venezuela as part of BP’s massive asset disposal program to help pay for its liabilities from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. “TNK-BP supports the intent of its 50% shareholder BP to strategically realign its asset base in Venezuela and is actively evaluating the opportunity to participate in the assets,” a spokesman with TNK-BP said.
