Algerian Ahnet gas field to produce up to 30 Bcm/year

Algiers-Algerian state-owned oil and gas giant Sonatrach expects to start production from the 5 Tcf Ahnet gas field in July 2014 and believes the field could produce as much as 20-30 billion cubic meters/yr, a senior official told Platts July 29. "We expect production of at least 4 Bcm/yr from the three Ahnet discoveries made to date with the possibility of going up to 20, 25 or even 30 Bcm/yr. It is a big project," an official with Sonatrach's licensing arm Alnaft said.
