ExxonMobil contaminated New York water, jury finds

New York-A federal jury in Manhattan has found ExxonMobil liable for contaminating New York City groundwater with MTBE and has awarded the city $105 million in damages, the city's Law Department said October 19. The city had sued the company for costs to remove MTBE from drinking water wells in the borough of Queens. The 11-week trial was heard before Judge Shira Scheindlin of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
