Dubai-Shareholders of Dubai-based Dragon Oil December 11 rejected a takeover bid by Emirates National Oil Company for a controlling interest in a deal that valued Dragon at $3.9 billion, the company said in a statement. Dragon Oil said the resolution failed to win the requisite majority at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders. "Since the resolution was not passed by the required majorities, the acquisition will not take place. As a result, Dragon Oil remains a majority-owned subsidiary of ENOC and will not become a wholly owned subsidiary of ENOC and the other effects of the Scheme of Arrangement set out in Part IV of the Scheme Document will not now take place," the company said.
