Iraq crude exports highest since June 2008; Boost from north helps total reach 1.906 million b/d

Amman, Jordan-Iraq's crude oil exports rose to 1.906 million b/d in May, up 85,000 b/d from April and the highest rate since June 2008, Ministry of Oil figures obtained by Platts showed. Total crude production rose to 2.472 million b/d last month, up 55,000 b/d from April, thanks largely to higher production from northern fields centered around the Kirkuk field. Production from the northern fields rose in May to 713,000 b/d, up 46,000 b/d from April and the highest rate achieved from northern fields since the US-led war of March 2003.
