Zhaikmunai gets 3-year Kazakh license extension

London-UK-based Kazakh upstream company Zhaikmunai has received a three-year extension to its exploration license for the Chinarevskoye field in northwestern Kazakhstan to May 2011, the company said November 26. The extension follows Zhaikmunai's announcement in June this year of six commercial discoveries at the field. The company informed the Kazakh Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the discoveries, and on November 17 signed a supplementary agreement to its original production sharing agreement to extend the license for a further three years.
